Brief the outcome, not the stack
Describe what the thing should do, not which framework to build it in. A seller can price “connect Airtable to Gmail and send one summary each Friday” in minutes. “Automate my admin” turns into a discovery call. The clearer the brief, the less you pay for someone else to guess.

What to buy first

Scope one workflow
Pick the single most annoying repeated task and automate only that. Proving one workflow works is cheaper than specifying everything up front and discovering half of it was unnecessary.

Get the handover
Ask for the code, the hosting accounts in your own name, and a short written explanation of how it works. Software you cannot hand to anybody else is a liability with a pleasant interface.

Then extend
Add the second and third workflow once the first has run for a few weeks. Real usage tells you what to build next far more reliably than planning does.
Common questions
Building software by describing what you want in plain language and letting an AI coding assistant write the code. The person you hire steers, reviews and corrects rather than typing every line. Fiverr created a dedicated category for it after search demand rose 61 percent in six months.
Because reaching a working demo and reaching something that survives real users are different problems. Authentication, data handling, error states, security and hosting are where projects stall, and none of them are the exciting part the AI does well.
Fiverr marketplace data puts a single-service integration at roughly 200 to 450 dollars, rising to 600 to 1,200 dollars when several systems need to talk to each other. A basic chatbot starts nearer 300 dollars.
Treat that as a separate decision. For anything involving health records, payment details or regulated data, hire someone who can talk specifically about how they handle it rather than someone whose strength is shipping quickly.
Ask where the software will live, whose accounts it uses, what happens when it breaks, and whether you receive the code and a written explanation at the end. A seller who answers those four clearly has done this before.
Only if you ask for that up front. Pay for documentation and a short handover walkthrough. It costs a little more and it is the difference between owning the tool and renting it from whoever built it.
Hire for the wall, not the demo
The prototype you can probably manage yourself now. The part that breaks under real use is what you are actually paying for, and it is the part worth paying properly for.
